Happy Tails

Here are just a few of the Happy Tails Precious Paws caring homes and new parents.

7-year-old Molly was rescued from a miserable life living chained up in a backyard with just a crate in southern Virginia. She had never been to the doctor for any shots or medical care, and was living on table scraps from a local restaurant. Luckily, we were contacted by a concerned friend of the family to take her into our rescue, and the family
admitted they could not afford to care for her and they were prohibited from having pets in their rental home.

Within her first few weeks with us, our vet diagnosed Molly with one malignant mammory tumor. The tumor was removed with clear margins and it is our hopes Molly will live a long and happy life with her new mom & dad, volunteers and foster mom & dad, Darlene & Andre! They absolutely adore Molly and she lives like a queen! Molly goes to both a regular vet
and hollistic vet to help prevent return of cancer with supplements and special home-cooked diet, and Darlene brushes her teeth every night! She also has 2 tzu step-brothers, Moe & Patches, ages 15 & 12, both rescued Shih Tzus. Darlene & Andre say Molly has brought a youthful joy to their home and are really having fun since Molly arrived!
Darlene & Andre have nicknamed Molly "Molly Tamale" because she has so
my pep, energy, and is so happy! Loves playing with her toys every day,
going for long walks, and having a snack at outdoor cafes...

12-year-old Eddy came into rescue when his health and behavior severely deteriorated following the arrival of a baby in the household. Eddy became so sick with anxiety, he was in early stages of liver failure and his owners were considering euthanizing him. Luckily their
veterinarian suspected this could be stress-induced, and they contacted
us. We immediately took Eddy and placed him in a foster home without children. We are happy to report Eddy fully recovered and all his health problems have disappeared! Eddy now resides with rescue volunteer Odean in her Philadelphia home. Odean is retired without any children, and Eddy and Odean are ecstatic to have each other for company every day forever! Eddy even marched in the local Halloween parade!
1-year-old Carter came to us from a Maryland shelter when he was so fear
aggressive, he was hiding in the back of his kennel and no shelter employee could touch him. This lovely little guy settled down right away in foster care and eventually over time all his fears subsided with fostermom Elizabeth. He now resides in his Alexandria forever home with new mom Becky who says he is a lovebug and wonderful with everyone!

2-year-old Cletus came to us from a shelter in Tennessee when he showed
fear-aggression with all males and strangers could not be put up for adoption. Though fearful, Cletus quickly settled down in foster care and it was obvious to us this was one sweet little guy! Cletus - now named 'Cameron' resides in Reston with his new mom Patricia and tzu step-brother Sundae. Aren't they adorable?

14-year-old sisters BoBo & Snickers were given up by their family when they were getting new carpeting and decided they didn't want the girls having accidents. We are sure glad they let these girls g - but wish they had done it alot sooner! Rescue Director Paddy was appalled at the condition of the girls when she arrived to pick them up. Both were being crated much of the time, and even on water-restriction to stop them from having 'accidents'. It was very obvious both girls were in need of
immediate medical care, and were taken directly to our veterinarian from the home.

Unfortunately, we lost both girls within 2 months. They suffered from untreated heart disease, Cushings Disease, high blood pressure, and should have been on special diets. Had they received proper medical
care, they could have been with us much longer. Losing them devastated all of us.

Rescue angel Chris, fostered the girls and absolutely adored them. The girls were very happy in their foster home - they received all the needed medical care, medicines and home-cooked special diets! They loved Chris's home-cooking!

The girls were individually cremated, and their remains with enshrined plaques are forever with Chris who loved them for the far-too-short time he had them. They were his princesses!

Chris also adopted Homer - a senior Lhasa Apso who continues to reside with Chris. Homer came to us from a New York City shelter when no other rescue would take him. Homer was very sick with pnemonia and shelter staff thought he was blind so they named him Homer. Volunteers
transported Homer to us, and after a 1-week-hospital stay in intensive care, and several weeks in his foster home, Homer finally recovered. A good grooming and medical assessment showed Homer was vision-impaired from untreated dry eye - but not blind! His hair was so long and matted and his eyes were encrusted with discharge from his pnemonia. Homer is
a healthy happy boy now and safely loved and cared for by new dad, Chris!

Dayton spent much of his time in a crate for the first 2 years of his life with original owner. He now resides with Audrey, a schoolteacher who loves to walk! Dayton goes for long walks several times a day with Audrey and his day-time dog-walker. A great happy tail for all!

Nine-month old Dexter came from a shelter in Tennessee with severe mange. After several months in foster care and home-therapy form foster mom Sarah, Dexter recovered wonderfully! This beautiful sweet boy now resides with Inez, a social worker who works from home. Dexter is the
official 'greeter' for all Inez's clients who adore him! Just look at these before & after pictures!
Sweet Dexter will be missed by us, but has found a truely wonderful home!
Carly became homeless in October 2005 at the age of 12 when her owner decided she did not have time or interest in them any longer with arrival of new baby. Like many seniors in rescue care, Carly did not receive much interest from potential adopters. Our Rescue Director fell in love with her, and she has resided with her ever since.

Carly recently had bladder stones removed and is recovering tremendously!

Now age 14, Carly remains very active and loves to go for walks and car-rides!

This is Mike & Alice who adopted Molly & Gracie (a bonded pair who are simply lovebugs!), and Wally who was a real demon boy we rescued from Fairfax shelter...he was very snappy but Mike & Alice have taken him to a private trainer and with their love and patience Wally has a wonderful forever home. *Wally, Graduating from CDSI's Basic Obedience Class!*

Sami - Sami's new home is in Southern Maryland with new mom, Daphne a college professor.
Sami will be accompanied by Madison (his current foster sibling and buddy) in an adoption pending status. Daphne has a lovely home and is quite a walker and hiker - wonderful news for both boys who have enjoyed daily hikes and walks with foster mom Sarah. Sounds like a wonderful match and new beginning for everyone!

Devon - Devon is enjoying her forever home with her new parents, Tammy and Dave, her step-sister Emily and Tzu step-sister Sophie. Sophie and Devon love to tumble around and play and Devon loves cuddling up with her mommy... and follows her every step around the house.

Haley - Haley is having a blast with new Tzu step-brother, Paddy (also adopted from us) and new mom Nancy in Georgetown! Haley and Paddy quickly became best buddies, and Nancy who owns a luxurious townhome is delighted! Both Nanc & Haley are cuddlebugs, and fill each other's needs well. Haley sleeps snuggled in Nanc's arms each night!
Katey - Katey is recovering nicely from her bladder stone surgery, and is living the life she deserves as a little princess with new mom, Marguerite in Mayland! Mom is retired and has a lovely home. Katey is busy these days going for frequent walks to meet the neighbors (who also oooh nad aaah over her, and errands in the car!
Lucas - Lucas has begun his new forever life with dad Todd and Tzu step-brother, and new mom Cathy who is home with him much of the time. They have a wonderful home and fenced-yard an hour from Washington DC area!

Hannah - Hannah was such a cutie her foster mom couldn't let her go. Now Hannah has a loving home and gets plenty of attention and play time.
